Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake was born in Hiroshima and studied graphic design at the Tama Art University in Tokyo, graduating in 1964. Following that, he spent time in Paris and New York City before returning to Tokyo in 1970, where he founded the Miyake Design Studio, a high-end producer of women’s fashion. Today he has become the kind of person who makes one wonder, “What kind of place could he possibly come from?” His creative energy seems like something from science fiction, perhaps even extraterrestrial. Part biography, part monograph, this volume dives into Miyake’s extraordinary world of design, tracing his roots through the years. Thanks to HeHe (Tokyo).
