Born in Kobe in 1976, Masanao Hirayama (also known as HIMAA) is a painter, illustrator and performer based in Tokyo. His works are disarmingly simple, with childlike lines and abstractly sketched forms designed to stimulate our consciousness.
Many of his projects involve visual games whereby the viewer is invited to participate in a form of quiz. Find Me published by Dashwood Books is the second in the series whereby the viewer is tasked to find the precise stick figure in a mass of similar copies throughout the book. The first in the series was staged in a football field and the latest set in an airport. Although his lines look like they are drawn with his intuition, he carefully draws the same image over and over again until he can eliminate his intention and the line becomes unconscious. Find Me is part of an ongoing series of books published by Dashwood in the form of paperback novels featuring illustrators, painters and photographers.Four signed copies available.
