Hideaki Otsuka is a Tokyo-based artist whose illustrations are humorous, and as he describes it, 'strange'. "I am doing work irrelevant to art every day. But that labour produces an unexpected effect. That's why my paintings are strange. I can not draw pictures by mere drawing a picture. The important thing for my pictures is the balance between thought and labour."
