Edouard Léon Théodore Mesens was a major figure in twentieth-century European art. An artist, composer, poet, editor, photographer, curator and gallerist, Mesens introduced the Surrealist movement to the United Kingdom and with his strong relationships with Erik Satie, Theo van Doesburg, Tristan Zsara and other artists, was a driving force of the movement. His own collages and artworks certainly held their own amongst his contemporaries. This stunning volume is the first substantial monograph on Mesens' intriguing personal life and career.
