Anders Edström's Safari perpetuates a slow and deliberate style of visual representation and perception, frequently focusing on a singular subject and removing it from any specific genre or contextual relevance. As a result, these images – taken between 2002 and 2004 – are removed from time, place and event, identifiable only by their colours and texture as drips or pools of paint on paper. This beautiful little book demonstrates an intense formal and material reduction, achieving a high degree of intimacy through attention to detail. Thanks as always to Nieves (Zurich).
