The first edition in our Search Volume series documenting the personal avenues of inquiry of significant artists.

A member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale,David Lancashire is a globally recognised graphic designer and visual artist with a distinguished career of over 40 years. David has fostered a long-standing personal interest and collaboration with Australia’s Indigenous people including Gagadju Elder and poet,Bill Neidjie, as well as Indigenous nations from Kakadu to the Pilbara to Thursday Island. David has learned to create from the heart of Australia and his resulting kangaroo works are about spirit and country. David sees Australia as a great and mythical place. His collages transform the familiar into rich abstractions of living forms, loaded with feeling and irony.

This book features a detailed visual study into David‘s working materials and process, along with reproductions of every Roo piece created to date. The visuals are accompanied by an insightful essay penned by one of Australia’s leading designers and visual commentators, Andrew Ashton.
