Poetricks II presents a new selection from Stefano Calligaro’s ongoing series of literal ‘poetical-tricks’. By modifying familiar words and terms, the works challenge established social and cultural codes through visual simplicity and a precise, deliberate (mis)use of language. Neither ironic, comical, sarcastic, political, nor socially engaged, the text-pieces resist categorisation, leaving interpretation entirely to the reader. Conceived as a ‘visual ecology of signs and meanings’, the series offers an alternative to today’s hyper-spectacle in art and culture. Poetricks are simultaneously artworks, minimal poems, and tools for questioning and redefining the essence, meaning, and boundaries of art, language, and poetry.
