The photos in this book were captured by Nick during his childhood, with a camera gifted to him by his mum. They eventually made their way to Nick's studio and collected all the detritus that comes with it: dust, paint, fingerprints. In doing so, these images have aged over time, along with Nick and his perspective on the world. They haven’t been used as direct reference imagery for Nick's paintings, as evidenced by the way he made the cover drawing and others featured in this publication; this method would stifle Nick’s flow and intuition to react in the moment. But they are in the work, like everything else in Nick's life and the things he holds close.
