The office of Gijs Van Vaerenbergh is actually two individuals, Pieterjan Gijs and Arnout Van Vaerenbergh, and this publication contains a cross section of their work until the present moment. It is a diverse body of work, grounded in a broader tradition that encompasses both architecture and the visual arts and, according to the architects, its coherence and interrelations are not always directly evident. The book is divided into several chapters – 'Drawing', 'Cutting', 'Bending', 'Assembling', 'Mirroring' – and includes an interview and list of works. This thematic approach serves as a way to categorise an oeuvre in retrospect and has been carefully and insightfully curated by the architects.

Architecture Monogram is a book series on emerging architects, landscape designers, photographers, and writers from Belgium and the Netherlands in which the designers reveal the personal obsessions and motivations that stimulate their design process.

160 pages, 13 x 20 cm, paperback, Ruby Press (Berlin).
