Perimeter x TOKIO Art Book Fair 2025

Perimeter are thrilled be participating in the first edition of TOKIO Art Book Fair 2025, held over three days from Friday May 2 to Sunday May 4 at the Shiba Park Hotel, Tokyo.

Organised by the team behind Tokyo Art Book Fair (TABF), this new initiative explores a different format of art book fairs – more compact in scale and with a fresh approach –designed to foster deeper connections and more vibrant exchanges within the independent publishing scenes both in Japan and internationally. The name TOKIO ART BOOK FAIR, differing by just one letter from TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR, symbolises its role as a parallel platform – offering a new perspective and encouraging a reimagining of Tokyo through a different lens.

Perimeter Editions are honoured to have been invited to exhibit as part of the lineup of fifty-four artists, publishers, bookstores, and galleries from Japan and abroad, curated specially for the inaugural edition. Eighteen past TABF exhibitors – including Perimeter Editions – were selected as hosts, each inviting two guest exhibitors of their choice, so we're delighted to be accompanied by our longtime friends and collaborators The Ice Plant (Los Angeles) and local rising star Tall Poppy Press (Melbourne).

At the Perimeter table, you can find recent highlights including James Tunks – ZONE, Rebordering the Archipelago: Asia Pacific Exchanges, Stanislava Pinchuk – The Theatre of War, and many others, including classic Perimeter titles from the catalogue. Perimeter's Dan Rule will also be presenting a talk on Sunday May 4 as part of the fair's program – details below!

This informal, wide-ranging discussion will take in Perimeter’s history, philosophy, and approach as a multifaceted, intentionally international, art book platform and company, reflecting on some key publishing projects as well as the pragmatic realities of running a creative business from the southern edge of the world.
